School finance litigants seek bill with narrow remedy
A coalition of 48 Kansas public school districts Saturday urged the Legislature to work directly on bringing K-12 education funding in line with a Kansas Supreme Court order and avoid entanglement in a “hodgepodge of bad” education reform ideas.
John Robb, general counsel to Schools for Fair Funding, said a series of policy reforms unlikely to survive legal challenge were written into a House bill filed in response the Supreme Court’s ruling that prior decisions by lawmakers resulted in unequal funding of schools.
